We Started With A Simple Question

Back in 2019, I kept meeting people who earned decent money but felt broke by October. Smart people, good jobs—yet somehow their annual budgets never quite worked. That disconnect bothered me enough to do something about it.

zalmeriqnove grew from those conversations. We're not here to sell you complicated software or promise financial miracles. Just honest education about making your money last twelve months instead of eight.

How We Got Here

2019

The Beginning

Started with weekend workshops in Launceston. Twelve people showed up to the first one. Those twelve taught me more about real budget challenges than any textbook ever could.

2021

Going Digital

Pandemic forced us online—turned out to be the best thing that happened. Suddenly we could help families across Tasmania, then Victoria, then everywhere. Our quarterly expense tracking system was born during lockdown.

2023

Real Growth

Launched our annual budgeting framework after testing it with 300 households. Nothing fancy, just a systematic approach to spreading expenses across the year so December doesn't destroy your savings.

2025

Where We Are

Over 2,000 Australian households now use our methods. We've refined the approach based on real feedback, real struggles, and what actually works when life throws curveballs at your carefully planned budget.

What Guides Our Work

Realistic Expectations

We won't promise you'll retire at 35 or become a millionaire. But we can show you how to stop living paycheque to paycheque, even on a modest income. That's worth more than fantasy projections.

Annual Thinking

Monthly budgets fail because life doesn't happen monthly. Car registration, Christmas, school fees—they're predictable but not monthly. We teach you to think in yearly cycles and quarterly adjustments.

Plain Language

Financial jargon creates barriers. We explain concepts using everyday words because understanding matters more than sounding sophisticated. If your teenager can't understand it, we've failed.

How We Actually Help

Our method isn't revolutionary. It's just practical, tested with real families, and adjusted based on what actually happens when you try to follow a budget while living a real life.

1

Annual Expense Mapping

We start by listing everything you'll spend money on this year. Not just rent and groceries—we're talking car registration, holiday gifts, that annual subscription you forgot about. Getting it all visible matters more than perfect categories.

2

Quarterly Reality Checks

Four times a year, we review what actually happened versus what you planned. No shame, no judgment—just honest assessment. That October blowout on school supplies? Let's build it into next year's plan properly.

3

Buffer Building

Life happens. Cars break down, kids need braces, opportunities appear. We help you create breathing room in your budget—not by earning more, but by allocating smarter across the entire year.

4

Sustainable Habits

Fancy systems fail if they're too complicated to maintain. Our approach works because it requires maybe two hours per quarter. That's achievable. That's sustainable. That's why people stick with it beyond January.

The Person Behind This

Eamon Fitzwilliam - Founder and Financial Educator

Eamon Fitzwilliam

Founder & Financial Educator

I spent eight years as a financial counsellor before starting zalmeriqnove. Helped hundreds of families navigate debt, budget struggles, and the gap between what they earned and what they needed.

What frustrated me was seeing the same patterns—people weren't failing because they were careless. They were failing because monthly budgets don't match how expenses actually occur throughout a year.

zalmeriqnove exists to fix that specific problem. If you're tired of your budget falling apart by September, our autumn 2025 program starts in April. We'll spend six months working through a full annual cycle together.
